What are the types of mastectomy – Simple, Modified, Radical

Mastectomy is the removal of the breast by surgical procedures.

There are various types of mastectomies are available. They are broadly divided into Simple mastectomy, Modified mastectomy and Radical mastectomy.

1. Simple Mastectomy :

In simple mastectomy we mainly remove the Breast along with NAC(Nipple-areola-complex), Pectoralis major and minor, and Axillary lymph nodes(Level I,II,III)

2. Modified Mastectomy :

In simple mastectomy we mainly remove the Breast along with NAC(Nipple-areola-complex), Pectoralis fascia and minor, and Axillary lymph nodes(Level I,II,III)

3. Radical Mastectomy :

In simple mastectomy we mainly remove the Breast along with NAC(Nipple-areola-complex), Pectoralis fascia, and Axillary lymph nodes(Level I,II,III)
